On July 11, at 6:37 am, James Morgan Ault, 29, of Inverness, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff's Office, after the owner of Island Outpost, located at 14231 W. Ozello Trail, in Crystal River, contacted the agency, about 5:29 am, to report that he arrived to open the business to find a man in the parking lot who told him his name was James - later identified as James Ault - holding a pack of beer that he placed inside the business owner's vehicle.

The business owner told the deputy that a glass door to the right front of the business was broken, and Mr. Ault appeared to be in a manic state, and made arm gestures, but did not appear to be threatening or violent. He said that the man agreed to leave the property, and he told the owner that he didn't want him to contact law enforcement. The suspect had left before the deputy arrived, the report stated.

According to the business owner, Mr. Ault had run credit reports on the credit card machine, removed utensils from behind the grill and placed them on the counter, turned on the lights in both bathrooms, and attempted to adjust the thermostat, which was determined due to blood swipes being on the thermostat cover. He said that a guitar had been removed from a closet and its case and placed on the bar. The owner also noticed that framed photographs that had been above the bar were now on the bar, along with a can of twisted iced tea that had been consumed.

The owner stated that he noticed no damage, other than the broken door, and nothing had been taken, other than the beer, which had been returned.

When the deputy stepped back into the parking lot, he located Mr. Ault, who told him he'd come to give the deputy a statement. After the interview, the report stated, the deputy attempted to place Mr. Ault into handcuffs, but he stiffened his arms and pulled away from the deputy

Ault was charged with burglary of an unoccupied structure, and resisting an officer without violence ($6,000 bond).
