Warrant arrests leads to additional charges and arrrest of second person

Bronson, Florida - On January 5, detectives with the Levy County Sheriff's Office were conducting targeted traffic enforcement in the Oak Ridge Estates area near Bronson.

Detectives, who were aware that 35 year-old Crystal L. Mencer, of Williston, FL, had a warrant for her arrest on a charge of failing to appear in court, saw her driving a red car, and conducted a traffic stop. Detectives quickly learned that Ms. Mencer's license had been suspended, and the car she was driving had been reported stolen in Tennessee. Inside a bag that belonged to Ms. Mencer, detectives located methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Ms. Mencer was charged with grand theft of a motor vehicle, possession of methamphetamine, driving while license suspended, and failure to appear in court ($47,000 bond).

James Raley, 20, of Bronson was a passenger in the car with Ms. Mencer. When questioned, he admitted to having illegal narcotics in his pocket. Detectives seized a syringe that was filled with liquid methamphetamine.

Mr. Raley was charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia ($7,000 bond).
