Homosassa, Florida - At 3:39 am on Friday, Jan. 1, Citrus County Fire Rescue was dispatched to a S. York Way, Homosassa residence, due to the report of a fire.
The Engine 18 crew from the Sugarmill Woods Fire Station arrived first on scene at 3:50 am to find an approximately 1,300 square foot residence, that consisted of a mobile home with site built additions, showing heavy fire and smoke from 100% of the structure. Firefighters found no evidence that the structure was occupied, and a defensive attack was initiated.
The fire was called under control at 4:09 am, and crews cleared the scene at 7:31 am. No injuries were reported. The power company secured the power, and the Florida State Fire Marshal’s Office responded to the scene to investigate the fire.
Other fire stations and personnel that assisted with the fire included Battalion Chief 2, Engine 3 from Homosassa, Rescue 7 from Connell Heights, Engine 23 from Kensington, Tanker 20 from Pine Ridge. and the Rehab Unit from Citrus Springs.
