Starting Jan. 1, new regulations for blueline tilefish will go into effect for Atlantic state waters (which include Monroe County) that are consistent with regulation for Atlantic federal waters.

The new regulations could help prevent recreational quota overages and overfishing, and include •a blueline tilefish recreational bag limit of 3 within the 3 fish aggregate bag limit for grouper and tilefish, and •a recreational season for harvest from May 1 through Aug. 31.
