CCSO promotes six employees to leadership positions

Citrus County, Florida - Sheriff Mike Prendergast announced on Friday, Dec. 18, the promotion of six accomplished and decorated professionals within the Citrus County Sheriff's Office. While some of these vital realignments have already taken place, today's ceremony is a formal announcement of each member's well-deserved placement within the agency. These promotions were made to further strengthen and structure the CCSO for future endeavors. In preparing for the future, the following promotions took place:
Sergeant Terry Corbin to Patrol Lieutenant
Lieutenant Corbin began working with CCSO in 2000 as a Communications Officer. Lt Corbin worked as a Patrol FTO and a CID Detective until he was promoted to sergeant in 2015. Lt. Corbin's most recent assignment was to oversee all newly hired deputy trainees as one of the agency's FTO Sergeants. Lt. Corbin is also assigned to the Dive team and agency's Honor Guard.
Sergeant Craig Callahan to Lieutenant over the Community Impact Section
Lieutenant Callahan began working with CCSO in 2008 as a Patrol Deputy. Lt. Callahan served as a Patrol FTO, Community Crime Detective, and ILP Sergeant. Lt Callahan's most recent assignment was to oversee all new deputy trainees as one of the agency's FTO Sergeants. Lt. Callahan also is the assistant SWAT team commander.
Detective Rachel Montgomery to Sergeant over the Behavioral Health Unit
Sergeant Montgomery has dedicated 13 years to the great citizens of Citrus County, serving in various capacities including Communications Officer, Patrol Deputy and Domestic Violence Detective.
Detective Allison Perry to Patrol Sergeant
Sergeant Perry remarkably held numerous positions during her 15-year-tenure, from Patrol Deputy, Tactical Impact Unit Detective, and Community Crimes Detective, to Community Crimes Officer In Charge. Sgt. Perry also serves the agency in the capacity of a team member on the Crisis Negations Team.
Detective Michael Sanchez to Patrol Sergeant
Sergeant Sanchez began working for CCSO in 2012. During Sgt. Sanchez' time with the agency he has held the title of Patrol FTO and Community Crimes Detective
Detective Michael Laborda to Patrol Sergeant
Sergeant Laborda started as a Patrol Deputy in January 2011. Sgt. Laborda advanced to Canine Deputy and worked alongside K9 Gunny until Gunny's retirement. Sgt. Laborda most recently served in the capacity of Major Crime Detective and also is a member of the agency SWAT team.
"I would like to congratulate these six individuals on a new chapter in their professional career," said Sheriff Prendergast. "With these changes, our team of professionals will continue to add to our rich legacy of excellence in public service."
Key factors that played a role in the decision to promote the above professionals include experience, expertise, and their abilities to consistently exceed the expectations and requirements of their roles. Each will bring a wealth of knowledge and leadership to their new roles.
