Man Impersonating "Live PD" Law Enforcement Officer Arrested in Inglis

On Wednesday, July 8, at 7:26 pm, John Michael David Malowney, 39, of Hudson, Florida, was arrested by the Levy County Sheriff's Office, charged with fraud - impersonating a law enforcement officer ($5,000 bond). 

According to Malowney's arrest affidavit, deputies were dispatched to Little Caesar's Pizza, located at 4 Highway 19 South in Inglis, with the complaint that Mr. Malowney had claimed to be an undercover law enforcement officer and attempted to document the tag information on a man's vehicle, but he had produced no credentials to document his claim and had gone across the street to the Shell gas station located at 19 Highway 19 South.

Several deputies spoke with Mr. Malowney at the Shell gas station. According to the arrest report, Malowney told the deputies that they they were under investigation by he and his uncle, whom he said was also at the gas station, that they were both law enforcement officers with "Live PD."

The deputies placed Mr. Malowney under arrest. No mention was made of deputies speaking with Mr. Malowney's uncle.
