One killed, two injuried in Nov. 25, Inverness single-vehicle crash

Inverness, Citrus County, Florida - A single- vehicle traffic crash that occurred in Inverness at 1:15 am, Wednesday, Nov. 25, resulted in fatal injuries to one of the passengers, a 40 year old Beverly Hills man, serious injuries to another passenger, a 32 year-old Inverness woman, and critical injuries to the driver, a 23 year-old Inverness man.

According to a press release by the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the three were traveling north on U.S. Highway 41 in a pickup truck, approaching South Airport Road when the driver lost control of the vehicle, and it traveled across the median and southbound lanes of the roadway, onto the west shoulder, overturned, and struck a light pole. As the vehicle overturned, the 40 year-old Inverness man, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle and suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.

The press release stated it was unclear if the other two passengers were wearing a seatbelt.

Citing Marsy's Law, the FHP no longer identifies people involved in traffic crashes in its press releases.
