Woman flees from CCSO in Inverness, arrested by FHP after crash in Brooksville
Hernando County, FL - Joyce Tracy Holubec, 57, was arrested by the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), about 3:00 pm on Monday, Nov, 23, 2020, as the result of a pursuit that originated in Inverness (Citrus County), FL about 11:00 am, when Citrus County deputies responded to a residence due to a report of domestic violence.
A Media Alert by the FHP stated, that in Inverness, deputies became involved in the pursuit due to a domestic battery incident, and an aggravated assault incident involving a law enforcement officer, when Ms. Holubec nearly hit a patrol vehicle as she fled from deputies and the Inverness residence where the incident occurred.
According to the FHP, Ms. Holubec was driving a silver 2015 Nissan Armada sports utility vehicle (SUV), armed with a 0.380-caliber pistol.
Deputies pursued Holubec as she headed south on Pleasant Grove Rd. into Hernando County, where the FHP took up pursuit at U.S. 41 and Croom Rd. in Brooksville, at speeds up to 100 mph - while Ms. Holubec attempted to collide with troopers - the alert stated. When Holubec reached Fort Dade Ave., north of SR 50, troopers performed a PIT (precision immobilization techniique) maneuver, which caused the Nissan to enter an adjacent wooded area and overturn.
Once disabled, the vehicle began to smoke, as troopers extricated Holubec, who suffered minor injuries. She was later transported to an area hospital for medical care. Two troopers also suffered minor injuries while removing Holubec from her vehicle; both were treated at the scene of the incident.
When Holubec was released from the hospital, she was transported to the Hernando County Detention Center in Brooksville, and booked into the facility on numerous charges: fleeing/eluding law enforcement, assault, battery, resisting an officer, possession of drug equipment, possession of marijuana, possession of drugs, possession of a firearm during commission of a felony, and reckless driving. Other charges are expected to be filed by Citrus County.
