E. Bow n Arrow Loop, Inverness fire contained to AC unti and bedroom

Inverness, Florida - Early Saturday morning, Nov. 21, at 7:25 am, Citrus County Fire Rescue was dispatched to a fire at an E. Bow n Arrow Loop, Inverness residence. The resident reported that the air conditioning unit was on fire, and he had already exited the residence.  

The Engine 8 crew from the Highlands Fire Station arrived first on scene at 7:34 am to find an approximately 2,000 square foot double wide mobile home with smoke showing at the corner of the residence.  Firefighters conducted a 360-degree inspection of the exterior of the home and confirmed that the fire involvement included the air conditioning unit and one bedroom located at the corner of the residence and its contents.

The Engine 8 crew began extinguishing the fire and requested additional units to assist with the extinguishment and the water supply.  The power was secured, and the meter was pulled by the power company. Access was made into the interior of the residence to search for other occupants, but none were found. Firefighters were able to confine the fire to the air conditioning unit and the one bedroom.  

The fire was called under control at 7:40 am, and crews cleared the scene at 9:15 am. Overhaul and ventilation operations were conducted, and no further hazards were identified. 

No injuries were reported. The male occupant told firefighters that he was alerted to the fire by his smoke alarms. He was assisted by the Red Cross.  

Other fire stations and personnel who assisted with the fire included Battalion Chief 1, Hernando Fire Station Engine 5, Kensington Fire Station Tower 1, Floral City Fire Station Engine 24, and Connell Heights Fire Station Tanker 2.
