Woman found, deceased, inside Floral City home on fire

Floral City, Florida - At 2:08 am on Friday morning, November 20, 2020, Citrus County Fire Rescue was dispatched to a fire at a residence located on E. Marvin St. in Floral City. The caller reported that a person was trapped inside the residence.
Engine 24 from the Floral City Fire Station arrived first on scene at 2:17 am, to find a single story, approximately 1,200 square foot block home, with flames visable through the window. The crew made immediate entry due to the report of a person being inside the residence, and found a woman, who was deceased.
Once the fire was under control, the home was searched again, but no one else was found inside, and no other injuries were reported. The male resident was offered services from the Red Cross.
The fire, which was confined to the kitchen and living room areas, was called under control at 2:35 am. Crews cleared the scene at 7:54 am.
Power company personnel responded to the home to secure the power. The Florida State Fire Marshal was contacted and responded to the scene to investigate.
Other fire stations and personnel that responded to assist with the fire included Engine 8 from Highlands Fire Station, Battalion Chief 1, Engine 5 from Hernando Fire Station, Tower 1 from Kensington Fire Station, Safety Captain 102, and Chief 4.
