Levy County, Florida - Levy County Transportation Director Gary Masters recognized Tanya Rivenburg, the driver of Bus 411 in Williston, with the Levy Impact Award, Octuber 27, for her response to a student choking on a piece of candy which saved the student’s life.

"Bus drivers in Levy are committed to do whatever it takes to keep students safe," said Mr. Masters. Mrs. Rivenburg responded, "There is not a driver in Levy that wouldn’t have done the same thing." She gave credit to the training the drivers receive, which she feels prepared her to quickly respond to the emergency.

According to WCJB 20 TV, the 7 years-old boy was not breathing, his coloring was blue, and it took several failed attempts before Ms. Rivenburg, who's been a bus driver for four years, was able to get the boy breathing using CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation); the boy was breathing when paramedics arrived.
