Citrus County, Florida - On Monday afternoon, October 19, 2020, Citrus County Sheriff Mike Prendergast announced the promotion of four accomplished, decorated professionals within the Citrus County Sheriff's Office (CCSO).
Although some of these vital realignments have already taken place, today's ceremony served as a formal recognition of each member's well-deserved placement within the agency, with the new structure expected to strengthen the agency.
Key factors that played an important role in the decision to promote the four professionals - Chris Evan, Jonathan Holtzhouse, Troy Hess, and Chris Holloway (details below) - include experience, expertise, and their ability to consistently exceed the expectations and requirements of their roles. Each will bring a wealth of knowledge and leadership to his new role.
PROMOTIONS:
Chris Evan, Director of Emergency Operations
Deputy Director Chris Evan was promoted to Director of Emergency Operations. Director Evan brings 30 years of dedicated public service to his newly appointed position. Evan joined the CCSO in 1997, and rose through the ranks to Lieutenant and served in several divisions, including patrol, community affairs, and professional standards. In 2013, he was appointed Deputy Director of Emergency Operations.
Captain Troy Hess, Judicial and Juvenile Services Division
Lieutenant Troy Hess was promoted to Captain over the Judicial and Juvenile Services Division. Captain Hess began working as a Court Security Deputy with CCSO in 2000 and was promoted in 2014 to Sergeant with Judicial and Juvenile Services. After leading this section for three years, he was promoted to Lieutenant and assigned to the Education and Professional Standards Division.
Sergeant Jonathan Holtzhouse, School Resource Deputy
Deputy Jonathan Holtzhouse was promoated to School Resource Deputy Sergeant. Sergeant Holtzhouse has dedicated 13 years to serving the citizens of Citrus County in various capacities, which included School Resource Deputy and Traffic Field Training Officer.
Sergeant Chris Holloway, Major Crimes Unit
Detective Chris Holloway was promoted to Sergeant over the Major Crimes Unit. Sergeant Holloway held numerous positions during his 11-year-tenure with the CCSO, which include patrol deputy, detective with the Special Victims, detective with the Major Crimes Unit, and Officer in Charge of the Major Crimes Unit.
"I would like to congratulate these four individuals on a new chapter in their professional career," said Sheriff Prendergast. "With these changes, our team of professionals will continue to add to our rich legacy of excellence in public service. While we cannot predict the future, we can better position our expert assets for the benefit of our community."
