Inverness woman enters plea in the 2024 murder of her roommate

Citrus County, Florida - After a brief discussion with her attorney on Monday morning, October 13, 2025, 63 year-old Tracey Lee Stanley of Inverness, Florida entered an open plea to the court before the Honorable Judge Joel D. Fritton, pleading no contest in the case against her,  in lieu of going to trial. Stanley is charged with second-degree murder in the July 2024 death of her roommate, 72 year-old Andrea Kathleen Day. Assistant State Attorney Blake Shore is prosecuting this case.

Stanley's sentencing hearing is scheduled for January 9, 2026.

On July 20, 2024, Citrus County Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to a residence located at 6033 East Rector Street in Inverness, Florida,  after receiving a call reporting that a deceased person was at the residence.

Inside the residence, deputies found the victim, who had clearly been deceased for a while, and was wrapped in a tarp.

Stanley, who was the roommate of the deceased victim, Andrea Kathleen Day, was questioned by Citrus County Sheriff's Office, Major Crimes Unit detectives, and arrested in the case.
