Citrus County Fire Rescue (CCFR)
Dunnellon, Florida – At 4:28 p.m. on Friday, September 19, 2025, Citrus County Fire Rescue was dispatched to N. Manila Terrace in Dunnellon due to a reported structure fire.
Firefighters arrived at the location to find a brush fire, along with a 30-foot camper trailer and a nearby shed that were fully engulfed in flames. A smaller camper on the property had already burned to the frame prior to the arrival of fire rescue crews at the location.
The Engine 9 crew from the DeRosa Fire Station in Crystal River, Florida initiated the fire attack, while additional units provided a water supply and contained the brush fire. Propane tanks near the burning camper were removed from the location for safety, and the area was checked for further hazards. The exterior operations from numerous area fire departments brought the fire under control, and the fire was extinguished without further spread.
At the time of the fire, no residents were present at the property, and searches of the debris confirmed that no one was inside the campers or shed.
After all hazards were secured, the scene was turned over to the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office. The last fire unit cleared the scene at 6:26 p.m.
The fire was determined to be accidental in nature; it appeared that it originated near a battery bank and charger, and then spread to the campers, shed, and surrounding brush. All the structures involved in the fire were a total loss.
