Oct. 4 fire destroys Hernando, FL mobile home

At 8:15 pm on Sunday, October 4, 2020, firefighters with Citrus County Fire Rescye were dispatched to a residential fire of a mobile home located on E. Fishermans Ln. in Hernando, FL.  Engine 5 from the Hernando Fire Station arrived first on scene at 8:22 pm to find the approximately 800 square foot residence roughly 50% involved with heavy fire.  

The power and gas were secured and searches found no one inside the home. The homeowner later arrived on scene. Entry was made through the front door to knockdown most of the fire. The fire was called under control at 8:32 pm, and crews cleared the scene at 10:24 pm. Red Cross was contacted to assist the homeowner. No injuries were reported. 

Fire stations that provided assistance with the fire included Kensington, Pine Ridge, Highlands and Citrus Springs.
