Dunnellon man killed, Dunnellon woman seriously injured, in Oct. 4, Ocala crash

A 77 year-old Dunnellon man died at an Ocala area hospital, and his 76 year-old female passenger, also of Dunnellon, sustained serioous injuried as the result of a two-vehicle traffic crash that occurred in Ocala on Sunday, Oct. 4, at 3:04 pm. 

According to a press release by the the Florida Highway Patrol, a sedan, driven by the Dunnellon man, was stopped at a stop sign, facing west, on SW 93rd Lane Road at the intersection with US 41, as the other vehicle, a pickup truck driven by a 30 year-old Ocala man, was traveling north on US 41. The press release stated that the Dunnellon man traveled west into the intersection of US 41, entering into the path of the pickup truck, which caused the front of the pickup truck to strike the left side of the sedan, whichc came to rest at the northwest corner of the intersection facing southwest, while the truck came to a controlled stop at the northwest shoulder of the intersection, facing south. 

The release stated that the driver of the truck and his 6 year-old male passenger were not injured in the crash, and each of the four passengers was wearing a seatbelt.
