UPDATED: Fernando Ruben Gonzalez-Gonzalez, 25, of Morriston, FL, was arrested by the Levy County Sheriff's Office, June 19, 2025, charged with aggravated battery causing bodily harm (no bond), aggravated battery of a person the offender knew or should have known was pregnant (no bond) and depriving a person of their means of protection or communication ($5,000 bond).
The arrest report stated, that at a camper located in Morriston, Gonzalez-Gonzalez, while intoxicated, had gotten into an argument with the pregnant victim that became physical. Gonzalez-Gonzalez is accused of grabbing, shaking, and pushing the victim, and breaking her cell phone, making it inoperable so that she was unable to contact law enforcement with it. The deputy observed the broken phone on the floor of the location where the altercation had occurred.
The victim told the investigating deputy that she's afraid of Gonzalez-Gonzalez, because approximately four months previously, he'd hit her head with a PlayStation game controller and attempted to choke her.
Gonzalez-Gonzalez admitted to the deputy that he'd gotten into an argument with the victim; he also told the deputy that the phone belonged to him, as he'd purchased it as a gift for the victim. Gonzalez-Gonzalez was placed under arrest and transported to the Levy County Detention Bureau in Bronson, FL. The incident was also reported to the Department of Children and Family (DCF) Services.
The following day, the victim arrived at the jail to report four other incidents of abuse against her by Gonzalez-Gonzalez she claimed had occurred during January and February of 2025. She also presented the officer with photographs of injuries she claimed Gonzalez-Gonzalez had inflicted on her: bruises, red marks and a laceration to the top of her head. She said she'd not reported the injuries at the time they'd happened because she had feared retaliation from Gonzalez-Gonzalez. She said that the two-inch laceration to the top of her head was caused by the PlayStation remote controller, which had required medical attention and three staples to close the wound.
According to one of the reports, at the jail, Gonzalez-Gonzalez had said regarding the victim's head laceration, that he'd gotten into an argument with the victim when she looked through his phone, during which she'd thrown the PlayStation remote control at him, and he'd thrown it back to her; that he was aware that she'd sought medical attention for the injury and he had not reported the incident to authorities because he is a man. He said he did not recall how the victim had sustained the other injuries, and there had been multiple physical conflicts between he and the victim during the past six months.
The report stated there are no criminal charges pending against Gonzalez-Gonzalez regarding the other accusations against hm by the victim because there is no evidence to support them.
