Citrus County Fire Rescue (CCFR)
Homosassa, Florida – At approximately 12:47 a.m. on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, Citrus County Fire Rescue (CCFR) was dispatched to a location on W. Homosassa Trai, due a report of a large brush fire that possibly involved a shed.
Fire crews arrived at the location to find that the fire was actually located on W. Mistflower Place, one block away from the reported location on W. Homosassa Trail. They found a 10 feet by 16 feet shed fully engulfed in fire, a box truck fully involved in fire, and a passenger vehicle partially involved in fire.
A battalion chief upgraded the fire rescue response, due to multiple 911 calls that reported visible flames and the involvement of vehicles. Suppression efforts were conducted from both locations. A 200 foot preconnected hose line was deployed to the rear of the property on W. Mistflower Place, while additional units launched a coordinated suppression effort from W. Homosassa Trail.
Additional units assisted with fire suppression, salvage, and overhaul operations, while other units provided a water supply. The fire was brought under control by 1:17 a.m. Complete mop-up operations were concluded by 2:23 a.m., when the last unit cleared the scene. Crews conducted a thorough overhaul and thermal imaging scan of the structure, confirming there were no remaining hot spots, before leaving the location.
The fire is believed to have originated in the shed and extended to the adjacent property where the involved vehicles were located. The exact cause remained undetermined following the investigation.
No injuries were reported.
