UPDATED: Jeffrey Sutton, 61, of Inglis, FL, was arrested by the Levy County Sheriff's Office, June 1, 2025, charged with battery; his bond was set at release on his own recognizance.
According to the arrest report, deputies arrived at an Inglis residence due to a "suspicious incident," to find two men and two women. One man's shirt was torn and one woman's shirt was wet. A man under a covered overhang in the yard, with a small laceration to his forehead, told the deputy that he wanted the people on the porch (the other man and a woman) to leave his home, but he was informed by a deputy, that since the people on the porch were visiting another person who lived in the home, deputies could not make them leave.
According to two of the four people at the residence, during an argument, Sutton had grabbed the woman (who lives at the house) around her neck, and he had also thrown an alcoholic drink on her, wetting her shirt. The man with the torn shirt said that he'd intervened, and that's how his shirt had gotten torn.
The deputy reported that the female victim's neck was red, consistent with the accounts of it being grabbed. The report stated that the four people involved in the incident had been out drinking that night, prior to the incident, and that Sutton was determined to be the primary aggressor.
