Citrus County, Florida - On Sunday, April 13, 2025, detectives with the Citrus County Sheriff's Office's Criminal Investigation Division made an arrest in the ongoing homicide investigation of 67 year-old Kyle D. Pazain of Crystal River, Florida. Victim Pazain's son-in-law, 43 year-old David P. Nemyier, was charged with first-degree murder in Pazain's death. He is being held at the Citrus County Detention Facility, in Lecanto, Florida, with no bond.

Around 10:45 am on Friday, April 11, 2025, the Citrus County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) Communications Division had received a phone call reporting a deceased man inside a residence located on Cherry Wood Court in Crystal River.  When law enforcement l personnel arrived at the location, they found the body of a man, later identified as Mr. Pazain, who was pronounced deceased at the scene. As the circumstances surrounding Mr. Pazain's death were suspicious, his death was treated as a homicide. 

"From the moment they were alerted to the suspicious circumstances surrounding Pazain's death, detectives have worked relentlessly through the weekend to piece together the details," said CCSO Community Relations Specialist Sydney Hudson. "Their efforts led to the identification and interviews of several persons of interest, ultimately resulting in the arrest of Nemyier." 

Over the course of the investigation, detectives and crime-scene specialists collected critical evidence, both physical and digital, and conducted numerous interviews. This collaboration provided the necessary information for detectives to establish probable cause to arrest Nemyier.

"I am incredibly proud of our detectives and Forensics Unit for their dedication in quickly piecing together the difficult puzzle surrounding Mr. Pazain's death, in such an expedient manner," said Citrus County Sheriff David Vincent. "Their hard work has been instrumental in bringing us closer to a successful prosecution in this case. We will continue to work closely with the Fifth Judicial Circuit State Attorney's Office to ensure the Pazain family receives the justice they deserve. Our thoughts and prayers remain with them, and we are committed to supporting them every step of the way as this case moves forward through the criminal justice system."

Potential homicide in Crystal River under investigation

Citrus County, Florida - About 10:45 am on Friday, April 11, 2025, the Citrus County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) Communications Division received a phone call reporting a deceased man inside a residence located on Cherry Wood Court in Crystal River. 

CCSO deputies and Citrus County Fire Rescue personnel were dispatched to the location to find a deceased man who was later identified as 67 year-old Kyle D. Pazian. Mr. Pazian was pronounced deceased at the location. 

Due to the nature of the incident, which was not specified, detectives and crime scene specialists with the CCSO Criminal Investigations Division (CID) responded to the residence, as well.

Preliminary information suggests that the circumstances surrounding the death are suspicious, and the death of Mr. Pazian is being treated as a homicide. 

Detectives have identified several persons of interest who are being interviewed.

"Currently, there is no indication of an ongoing threat to public safety," said CCSO Community Relations Specialist Madeline Scarborough, "Residents can expect to see a continued increased law enforcement presence in the area as part of the investigative process."

"Our Detectives are working diligently to provide answers to the Pazian family" said Citrus County Sheriff David Vincent.
