Citrus County, Florida - On April 1, 2025, the Citrus County Sheriff's Office announced the retirement of K-9 (police dog) Marino, who served the agency for over four and a half years.

Marino, a 6 year-old German Shepherd, has been an invaluable member of the law enforcement agency's team, contributing to countless investigations and operations throughout his career. Over the years, K-9 Marino's dedication has resulted in numerous accomplishments, helping to keep our community safe.

Marino's tracking skills have led to the location of 20 people and the apprehension of 12 suspects. His keen nose has led to the seizure of:
        182.5 grams of fentanyl
        2,352.9 grams of cocaine
        551.69 grams of methamphetamine
       14,013.7 grams of marijuana
        1,168 controlled substance pills
        168 firearms
        281 items of drug paraphernalia

As K-9 Marino steps into retirement, he will spend his well-earned rest at home, under the loving care of his handler.

"K-9 Marino will be sorely missed, but has more than earned a healthy retirement from CCSO," said CCSO K-9 Sergeant David Miller. "K-9 Marino proudly served the community for almost 5 years and can now enjoy some much-deserved relaxation with his handler."

"Thank you for your service, Marino. Enjoy your retirement, good boy. You've more than earned it." said CCSO Community Relations Specialist Sydney Hudson.
