Lt. Dykstra, LCSO'S CID Commander, found dead in Goethe State Forest

Levy County, Florida -  The Levy County Sheriff's Office reported the death of 47 year-old Lt. Duane Dykstra, the Commander of the agency's Criminal Investigations Division (CID), on Saturday, Sept. 26. 

Lt. Dykstra failed to return from a deer hunting trip on Saturday morning. He was later found deceased in the Goethe State Forest, near the intersection of CR 337 and SR 121 in Dunnellon, FL.
 
Lt. Dykstra appears to have died from natural causes, and foul play is not suspected.  The incident is being investigated by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission and the Office of Florida's District Eight Medical Examiner 

Lt. Dykstra, who had more than 25 years of law enforcement experience, had served as his agency's CID Commander since February 2016. During his career at LCSO, Lt. Dykstra also worked as a dispatcher, a patrol deputy, a K9 handler, a narcotics investigator and as a Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team member.
