An arrest warrant was issued for Scott's arrest, March 24, 2025, after officials conducted an investigation into Scott bringing her two-year-old daughter into a Marion County, Florida emergency room (also on March 24, 2025), explaining to medical personnel that her child had not slept all night and was erratically swinging her arms, "acting crazy" and "bouncing off the walls."
A medical examination determined that the child was exhibiting symptoms commonly seen in adults who are 'tweaking' from the use of methamphetamine. (Tweaking is a physical and psychological state that can occur following a methamphetamine binge, with unpleasant withdrawal symptoms and altered perceptions.) Lab reports confirmed that the child was suffering from acute intoxication caused by exposure to methamphetamine or another stimulant. The child also tested positive for exposure to opiates.
Levy County Sheriff’s Office detectives and Department of Children and Family Services investigators learned that Scott had recently moved to Bronson, Florida with her paramour and daughter, into a home previously known to be connected to narcotics activity, with additional roommates.
Scott told detectives that she (Scott) had recently used methamphetamine. She also told them that she'd noticed her child's symptoms about 12 hours before she asked a friend to drive her and her daughter to the hospital - located well away from her home - instead of calling 911.

UPDATED:  Timothy Richard Sparks, 38, of Cross City, FL, was arrested by the Levy County Sheriff's Office (LCSO), March 30, 2025, charged with animal cruelty, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana, possession of drug equipment, and possession of manufacturing paraphernalia used to transport drugs ($130,000 bond).
On March 18, 2025 the LCSO Ag Unit detective was notified by Levy County Animal Services that numerous complaints had been made about animal abuse at the home of Timothy Sparks. On the morning of March 19, 2025, the Ag detective arrived at Sparks' home to find a dog lying in the driveway. The detective reported the dog's appearance as alarming and rated the dog's condition as a score of 1 out of 9, "or in layman’s terms near death," according to a press release. The detective attempted to contact the owner, but no one came to the door, although he heard people talking inside the home, and he was outside the home for over 30 minutes.
Witnesses told the Ag detective that Sparks had been seen hitting and kicking the dog. One witness reported seeing Sparks shoot at the dog.
The detective noted that the dog was malnourished and appeared dehydrated, had very little hair, a severe rash that covered her body, and fleas could be seen crawling all over her. Based on the dog’s condition, she was immediately taken to Animal Services for treatment by a veterinarian.
The veterinarian reported that the dog’s condition was far worse than expected. The dog suffered from multiple parasitic infestations, a bacterial infection, a yeast infection and starvation. The dog’s bowels contained only pine cone debris, evidence the dog was eating indigestible matter to stave off her hunger pangs. The dog was treated surgically to remove afterbirth that was not naturally expelled after delivering puppies. During surgery, the veterinarian removed four shotgun buckshot pellets from the dog’s abdomen.
Deputies began looking for Sparks, in order to arrest him on animal cruelty charges. He was located, March 30, 2025, slumped over the steering wheel of his truck, with the engine running, in the parking lot of a convenience store in Fanning Springs, Florida. Sparks was taken into custody. During this arrest, drug evidence was seized resulting in additional charges against Sparks.
