LAND O’ LAKES, Florida – On March 19, 2025, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) arrested 31 year-old Michael Steven Durshimer (see photo below) of Land O’Lakes on three felony counts, each, of traveling to meet a minor for sex and lewd or lascivious battery, and one felony count of unlawful use of a two-way communication device. The arrest is a result of the FDLE’s statewide initiative to locate and arrest criminals soliciting children online for a sexual relationship, and sharing files depicting the sexual abuse of children.
The investigation began in February 2023 when the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office requested that the FDLE assist them in a runaway child investigation. Agents learned that a juvenile victim had been contacted by a suspect though social media. On multiple occasions, the suspect arranged for the minor to be transported to his residence in Land O’ Lakes where he had sex with her.
Through investigative, forensic and analytical operations, agents identified Durshimer as the suspect. FDLE agents, with the assistance of the Pasco Sheriff’s Office, arrested Durshimer on March 19, 2025. He was transported to the Pasco County Jail where he was booked on the charges, with his bond set at $65,000.
This case is being prosecuted by the Attorney General James Uthmeier's Office of Statewide Prosecution.
The case is being investigated by the FDLE Brooksville Field Office; the investigation remains active and ongoing.
