David Robert McGill, 59, of Homosassa, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff's Office, July 5, as the result of an investigation into a burglary that had occurred at the Crystal River Mall, located at 1801 NW U.S. Hwy. 19 in Crystal River, Florida.
The owner of an enclosed trailer told deputies that he'd found his trailer door open, and a toy race car track, valued at $130 that was still inside the trailer, broken. Due to the disarray of items inside the trailer, the owner was not able to immediately determine what had been taken.
The owner later determined that items missing included electronic devices, personal clothing, food and equipment. The items had an estimated combined value of $831.98.
The victim told a deputy that Mr. McGill, while inside his (McGill's) vehicle, had shown him a laptop computer that the victim told the deputy had been stolen from his trailer.
The arrest report stated that Mr. McGill admitted to a deputy that he'd gone inside the victim's trailer. The report also stated that the deputy searched Mr. McGill's vehicle and located several items that had been reported stolen from the victim's trailer that the victim identified as belonging to him.
McGill was transported to the Citrus County Detention Facility, charged with grand theft of $750 or more, but less than $5,000; criminal mischief of $200 or less, and burglary of an unoccupied conveyance ($7,500 bond).
