Pilot and single occupant, killed in Floral City airplane crash

Citrus County, Florida - At approximately 8:00 am, Wednesday morning, Sept. 23, Citrus County Sheriff's Office deputies and Citrus County Fire Rescue were called to the scene of a Piper Pawnee airplane crash, in which the single occupant of the plane, the pilot, was killed. The crash occurred in a wooded area, off South Woodwind Point in Floral City, approximately 2 miles from the Inverness Airport. A brush fire ignited by the crash was extinguished by Citrus County Fire Rescue. The pilot was later identified as Randy Berry, 67, of Inverness, FL, the co-owner of a family business, Eagle Vistas LLC, an agricultural pilot flight school and commercial agricultural sprayer which operates from the Inverness Airport. The crash is being investigated by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
