Citrus County Animal Services and Care Center believes the human animal bond should not be broken due to financial hardships therefore we offer assistance through our Pet Food Pantry to help pet owners continue to care of their furry family members.

The Care Center relies on donations of unopened bags of pet food, treats, and canned food to be able to provide this service to the residents of Citrus County. Through these donations, we also provide pet food to programs such as Meals On Wheels and Community Food Bank – Citrus County.

If you are in need of assistance, please call the shelter at 352-746-8400 to set an appointment for pet food pick up.

If you would like to Feed’Em Forward we accept donations seven days a week during normal business hours or call the shelter at 352-746-8400 to set a drop of time for Sunday or Monday.

Citrus County Animal Services and Care Center is an open-admission shelter that takes in approximately 5,000 animals annually, regardless of capacity or reason for surrender. The nonprofit organization is the only animal shelter serving Citrus County.

Since 2019, Citrus County Animal Services has increased lifesaving measures to achieve a release rate of over 90% for both dogs and cats. CCAS is committed to working with our volunteers and community groups to continue to raise funds to acquire lifesaving and pet retention equipment and supplies along with increasing community engagement.
