UPDATE - HIT AND RUN DRIVER LOCATED - Motorcyclist killed in Morriston, FL five vehicle crash on US 41; FHP seeking info. regarding hit and run car and driver

Morriston, Florida - A five-vehicle traffic crash that occurred on Sunday, January 12, 2025, resulted in the death of a 37 year-old man from Elkton, Maryland, the driver of a motorcycle. The crash occurred at 7:10 pm in Morriston, Florida on U.S. Highway 41, at SE 35th Street.
According to a press release from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), no other injuries were reported as a result of the crash, with the possible exception of one driver who fled from the scene of the crash and has not yet been identified. The motorcyclist and the drivers who remained on scene were the only passengers of their vehicles, and each driver was wearing a seatbelt. The motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet.
At the time of the crash, four vehicles were traveling south on U.S. Highway 41: a sedan, driven by a 51 year-old man from Morriston, Florida, followed by a white passenger car (that fled from the accident location after the crash), a sport utility vehicle driven by a 70 year-old woman from Morriston, Florida, and a van driven by a 30 year-old man from Huntington, Indiana.
At the same time, the motorcyclist was traveling north on U.S. Highway 41 (in the opposite direction of the vehicles listed above), when the sedan made a left turn in front of the motorcycle, which resulted in the front of the motorcycle colliding into the right rear of the sedan and the motorcycle operator falling from the motorcycle. He was then struck by the white passenger car, followed by the sport utility vehicle and the van.
After the crash, the white passenger car fled from the traffic crash; the sport utility vehicle and the van came to rest on the west shoulder of U.S. Highway 41.
The Levy County Sheriffs Office, Levy County Fire and Rescue and Florida Department of Transportation assisted the FHP at the crash scene.
The driver of the sedan - 51 year-old David Greene of Morriston - was placed under arrest, charged with driving under the influence with serious bodily injury.
The white car that fled from the traffic crash likely has damages to its front and possibly to its front left, as well. UPDATE: The white vehicle involved in the crash that left the crash location has been located, according to a FHP on January 14.
This crash is still under investigations, and charges are pending.
