A Homosassa man received minor injuries in a three-vehicle traffic crash, in which one man was killed, that occurred on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 20 in Spring Hill (Hernando County), Florida.
According to the Florida Highhway Patrol (FHP), the crash occurred at 4:17 pm on US 19 at the intersection of Pepper St.
The press release stated that the driver killed in the crash, Driver 1, a 45 year-old Port Richey man driving a pickup truck, was traveling south, in the center lane of US 19 approaching Pepper St. - behind the other two drivers involved in the crash that were both stopped at a red traffic signal on US 19, at the intersection with Pepper St.
Driver 2, a 76 year-old Holiday, Florida man driving a pickup truck, was in the center lane, and Driver 3, the 81 year-old Homosassa man driving a sedan, was in the inside lane.
The press release stated that Driver 1 failed to slow or stop for other traffic and first collided with Driver 2's vehicle in the center lane and then Driver 3's vehicle in the inside lane.
After the impact with the other two vehicles, Driver 1's vehicle overturned and came to rest within the intersection. Vehicle 2 came to rest on the west grass shouldler and Vehicle 3 also came to rest within the intersection.
Driver 1 suffered fatal injuries at the scene of the crash.
Citing Marsy's Law as the reason, the FHP no longer gives identifying details of passengers or vehicles in press releases.
