Motorcyclist from Citrus Springs dies as result of crash with sedan in Ocala

Ocala (Marion County), Florida - A 37 year-old man from Citrus Springs (Citrus County), Florida, died as the result of a two-vehicle crash that occurred in Ocala at 4:10 am on Thursday, December 26, 2024. The crash occurred on SW 80 Avenue, at the intersection of SW 80 Street.  

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, an 87 year-old woman from Ocala was driving a sedan, traveling south in the left turn lane of SW 80 Avenue, at the intersection of SW 80 Street. 

The man from Citrus Springs was driving a motorcycle, traveling north on SW 80 Avenue, and as he entered the intersection of SW 80 Street, the woman driving the sedan turned left, in front of the motorcycle, violating its right-of-way, causing the front of the motorcycle to strike the left front of the sedan.

After the collision, the motorcycle and its driver were thrown onto the northeastern grass shoulder, while the sedan came to rest obstructing the intersection. 

Both drivers were transported to area hospitals for medical treatment. The woman sustained minor injuries, while the driver of the motorcycle was later pronounced deceased at HCA Hospital Ocala. 

The investigation is ongoing.
