Woman riding bicycle in Homosassa struck and killed by truck

Homosassa, Florida - A 59 year-old woman from Homosassa died as the result of being struck by a vehicle while she was riding a bicycle in Homosassa at 8:15 pm on the evening of Tuesday, September 24, 2024.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the woman was riding a bicycle, traveling north on West Homosassa Trail, when a Dodge Ram pickup truck, driven by a 30 year-old man from Crystal River, Florida - also traveling north on West Homosassa Trail, behind the woman on the bicycle - overtook her and collided into the woman and her bicycle, just south of South Regal Lilly Way.
The bicyclist suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash.
