Woman dies, man critically injured in CR 484, Dunnellon crash; the other driver and passenger uninjured

Marion County, Florida - The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle fatal traffic crash that occurred at 12:40 pm on Saturday afternoon, September 21, 2024 on County Road 484 at the intersection of SW 110th Avenue in Dunnellon, Florida (Marion County). The crash involved a sedan and a sport utility vehicle (SUV), and the four occupants of the two vehicles were all residents of Dunnellon.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 38 year-old man was driving a sedan, traveling east on County Road 484, and when he attempted to turn left onto SW 110th Avenue, he traveled directly into the path of an SUV, driven by a 74 year-old man, that was traveling west on CR 484, which resulted in the front of the sedan colliding into the left side of the SUV. 

Due to the impact, the SUV traveled off of the roadway to the right and overturned. The 69 year-old female passenger of the SUV was ejected from the vehicle during the incident. She was pronounced deceased on the scene of the crash by Marion County Fire Rescue. The driver of the SUV was transported to an area hospital in critical condition. Neither was wearing a seatbelt restraint.

The driver of the sedan and his 40 year-old female passenger were not injured during the crash; they both were wearing a seatbelt.
