Two killed and two injured in head-on crash on Suncoast Parkway; all from Citrus County

Hernando County, Florida - Two people were killed and two were injured in a two-vehicle, head-on collision that occurred in Hernando County at 12: 40 am, early Saturday morning, September 21, 2024. All four people involved in the crash were residents of Citrus County, Florida.

The crash occurred on the Suncoast Parkway (State Road 589), just north of County Line Road (County Road 578), at the 38 Milepost.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 45 year-old man from Homosassa, Florida was driving a Volkswagen Jetta - traveling south in the northbound lanes of the Suncoast Parkway -  and collided, hean-on, with a Honda Odyssey, driven by a 47 year-old woman from Homosassa, Florida, that was 
traveling north in the northbound lanes of the Suncoast Parkway.

After the impact, both vehicles rotated, then overturned. The Volkswagon Jetta came to rest in the median of the Suncoast Parkway, and the Honda Odyssey came to rest on the outside shoulder of the Suncoast Parkway.  

Both drivers suffered fatal injuries and expired at the scene of the crash.

Two passengers traveling in the Honda Odyssey, a 20 year-old woman from Inverness, Florida, and a 20 year-old man from Homosassa, Florida, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to an area hospital.
