Levy County, Florida - A man who is said to be a serial vehicle thief who was operating in south Levy County and the Dunellon area of Marion County, 31 year-old Travis Joseph Slone, of Dunnellon, FL, was stopped, Sept. 1, when he was taken into custody by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) after using a stolen ATV to flee from a wildlife officer.

Once he was in custody, Detective Scott Stancil with the Levy County Sheriffg's Office (LCSO) worked with Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) detectives to link Slone to nine vehicle thefts in Levy and Marion counties using physical and video evidence, eyewitness testimony and Slone’s own statements. According to a LCSO press release, Slone repeatedly drove a stolen vehicle to another victim’s house, to steal his next vehicle. 

Mr. Slone has been charged with 4 counts of grand theft of a motor vehicle, failure to stop for a law enforcement officer, and fleeing from a law enforcment officer in pursuit with lights and sirens activated. He's being held at the Levy County Jail on a bond set at $210,000.
