Two people die as the result of a motorcycle vs. car crash on US 19 in Homosassa

Homosassa, Florida - Two people died as the result of a two-vehicle traffic crash that occurred at 1:12 pm on Saturday afternoon, August 31, 2024, in Homosassa. The crash occurred on U.S. Highway 19 (S. Suncoast Blvd.), at the intersection of  W. Dixieland St.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 79 year-old man from Brooksville, Florida, was driving a Harley Davidson motorcycle, traveling west on W. Dixieland St. and failed to yield to a Nissan Altima car that was traveling north on U.S. Highway 19, driven by a 51 year-old woman from Homosassa. As a result, the motorcycle entered into the path of the car, which resulted in the car striking the motorcycle. 

The drivers of the motorcycle and car and the passenger of the motorcycle were transported to area hospitals, where the driver of the motorcycle and his passenger, a 69 year-old woman from Brooksville, Florida, later expired from injuries suffered during the crash.
