Inglis man, 30 year-old Brandon Capozzi, arrested, charged with murder

On August 19, 2024, the Levy County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call that reported a shooting. The caller told dispatch that he heard gunshots outside of his residence, and when he walked outside, found the victim in his driveway, suffering from a gunshot wound.

Deputies from the Levy County Sheriff’s Office and first responders from the Levy County Department of Public Safety arrived at the location and administered medical aid to the injured victim.  However, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. The name of the victim has not yet been released.

Witnesses reported hearing a motorcycle leave the area after the shooting. 

Detectives and deputies began an investigation. They quickly identified 30 year-old Brandon Capozzi of Inglis, Florida as a person of interest in the shooting and established probable cause for his arrest.

Levy County Sheriff’s Office detectives worked with Williston (Florida) Police Chief Mike Rolls and officers from the Williston Police Department to take Capozzi into custody in the parking lot of the McDonald’s restaurant, located at 713 W. Noble Ave, in Williston.

During the investigation detectives learned specific details from Capozzi, which corroborated evidence at the scene, witness statements, and motive.

As a result of the investigation, Capozzi was arrested on August 20, charged with homicide without premeditation. He was booked into the Levy County Detention Bureau in Bronson, Florida at 1:12 am.
