Inglis (Levy County), Florida - A single vehicle traffic crash that occurred a 3:50 pm on Sunday, August 18, 2024, resulted in the death of the 61 year-old male driver and serious injuries to his 65 year-old female passenger, both of Dunnellon, Florida.
 
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred on County Road 40 in Inglis, near SE 115th Avenue. The driver was driving a silver Mercedes, traveling east on Highway 40. While the driver was attempting to negotiate a left curve in the driveway, the vehicle left the roadway to the right and entered the south grass shoulder. The vehicle began to overturn and collided with a fence, then came to rest on its roof.

The male driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced deceased on the scene of the crash. His female passenger, who was wearing a seatbelt, was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
