Fire rescue recommends that you test your smoke alarms monthly and replace any smoke alarms that do not respond to testing. Even if your smoke alarms seem to be working fine, change the batteries every six months to ensure they remain reliable. Develop and practice a fire escape plan, at least twice per year, to ensure that everyone in your household knows what to do when a smoke alarm sounds and where to meet in the event of a fire. Working smoke alarms significantly increase your chances of surviving a house fire. If you need assistance with your smoke alarm, please contact CCFR  at (352) 527-5406.

Firefighters from the Connell Heights, Homosassa, Sugarmill Woods and Kensington fire stations responded to the residence, along with a rescue.
