New York City man killed in single vehicle crash in Lecanto, FL

Lecanto, Florida - A single-vehicle traffic crash that occurred in Lecanto at 4:00 am on Friday, July 5, 2024 resulted in the death of a 19 year-old man from New York, New York.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the man was driving a Nissan Altima sedan, traveling south on South Lecanto Highway (County Road 491) when, north of West Black Diamond Circle, the sedan departed the roadway and entered the west shoulder where it struck a concrete power pole.  

The driver was transported to an area hospital where he later expired from injuries suffered during the crash.
