Levy County, Florida - About 3:00 am on Saturday morning, Sept. 5, the Levy County Sheriff’s Office began receiving numerous reports of people being shot at a 'Next Generation All Gas' block party/protest, staged near the intersection of CR 318 and US 27 Alternate in east Williston.
By 5:30 am, detectives were aware of six people who had arrived at various trauma centers in Gainesville and Ocala, suffering from gunshot wounds inflicted at the party. At that time, the intersection was still closed while crime scene technicians processed the scene for evidence.
Detectives are asking for the public’s assistance in gathering additional information, as numerous witnesses were on the scene and many may have have video or photographic evidence of the incident.
If you have any information, please contact Detective Sergeant Mike Narayan by phone at 352-486-5111, or Crime Stoppers at 1-877-349-8477, to remain anonymous.
The Sept. 5 protest was allegedly in response to a teenage party that was held on private property in south Williston on Friday, August 31, during which a juvenile was shot. The youth was transported to an area hospital in stable condition. Shortly after midnight on Sept. 1, 17 year-old Dunellon youth, Sunny E. Wallace was arrested as a suspect and is being held at the Marion County Juvenile Detention Facility in Ocala. The parent and child responsible for organizing the August 28 south Williston party are scheduled to appear in court, charged with having an open house party where a serious injury occurred.
