Have you seen this man? Joey Morgan, 45, of Summerfield, FL - wanted for attempted murder; fled on foot from I-75 in Pasco County
Troopers arrived at the location to find a green Dodge Ram pickup truck, hauling a utility trailer, that was pulled over to the side of the road, along with several witnesses, one of which was a passenger inside the Dodge Ram pickup truck who identified the assailant as Joey Edward Morgan, 45, of Summerfield, Florida, the victim's husband of 12 years.
The witness told troopers that the victim was driving the truck when one of the tires experienced a blowout. The witness said that Mr. Morgan yanked the steering wheel to the right, nearly causing the victim to lose control of the truck, before the victim was able to come to a stop along the outside shoulder of the road.
An argument then ensued between Morgan and the victim, during which Mr. Morgan walked around the vehicle to the driver’s door and pulled the victim, by her hair, out of the vehicle, into the open travel lanes of I-75, where he head-butted the victim, punched her several times, then pushed her into the path of an oncoming tractor trailer; the driver took evasive action and was able to avoid striking the victim. During the altercation, the witness told troopers, Morgan repeatedly advised the victim that he was going to kill her.
After he pushed the victim into the path of the oncoming truck, Morgan fled on foot into the wooded area adjacent to Interstate-75. An extensive search of the area by FHP troopers and Pasco County Sheriff's Office deputies proved unsuccessful in locating Morgan. FHP troopers later sought, and were granted, a warrant for Morgan’s arrest for attempted murder.
