Girl, standing in the roadway, struck by SUV and dies near Old Town

Old Town, (Dixie County) Florida - At approximately 10:35 pm on Saturday, May 25, 2024, a crash occurred on State Road 349, near Old Town, that resulted in the death of a 13 year-old girl from Old Town, a pedestrian, who was standing within the roadway.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 30 year-old man from Morriston, Florida was driving a sport utility vehicle (SUV), traveling south on State Road 349, when his vehicle struck the girl who was standing within the roadway.

The girl was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash. The driver of the SUV was not injured during the crash.
