W. Misty Rose St., Homosassa residence a total loss from intense fire

Homosassa, Florida — At 2:13 pm on Monday, April 29, 2024, Citrus County Fire Rescue responded to a residence located on W. Misty Rose St. in Homosassa due to a reported fire. Initial reports indicated that small explosions had been heard in the vicinity. It was also reported that no one was near the home.

First responders arrived to find a small mobile home fully engulfed in flames, an intense fire. Crews deployed an attack line to suppress the flames, and the fire was quickly brought under control. Searches revealed no occupants within the home. 

The fire was brought under control as of 2:26 pm. After overhaul and mop up, the last unit cleared the scene at 3:05 pm. No injuries were reported. 

The home's occupant expressed the need for lodging assistance, which was requested for the tenant.  

The structure was a total loss. At the time of the press release, the cause and origin of the fire had not been determined.  

Firefighters from the Connell Heights, Homosassa, and Sugarmill Woods fire stations arrived on scene, along with a safety captain and a rescue unit.
