Citrus Springs woman dies as result of Crystal River crash; driver charged with DUI manslaughter

A traffic crash that occurred at 4:55 pm on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, resulted in the death of one of the three occupants of the vehicle, a 23 year-old woman from Citrus Springs, Florida who suffered serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital where she later expired from her injuries.
The driver and a 23 year-old male passenger from Citrus Springs were not injured.
The driver, 26 year-old Dexter Nicholas Landstrom of Dunnellon, Florida, was later arrested by FHP troopers, charged with reckless driving and driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol manslaughter. His breath alcohol level was measured at 0.151 (the legal limit in Florida is 0.08).
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Landstrom was driving a Chevrolet Blazer sport utility vehicle, traveling west on West Fort Island Trail at a high rate of speed, and failed to negotiate a curve in an area west of Seabreeze Point. The vehicle departed the roadway, struck several trees and overturned.
