A 17 year-old juvenile, Sunny E. Wallace, of Dunnellon, FL, was arrested, shortly after midnight on Tuesday. Sept. 1, as the result of a shooting that occurred at a party in Williston, FL on Friday night, Aug. 28.
According to the Levy County Sheriff's Office (LCSO), the teenage party was held on private property, south of Williston.
After the party became violent, the agency received numerous 911 phone calls, reporting that a teenager had been shot and was being driven by friends to meet with emergency medical services (EMS) in the parking lot of the Winn Dixie store, located at 706 W. Noble Ave. in Williston.
The teenaged victim suffered a single gunshot wound to his abdomen. He was transported to a local hospital where he was listed in stable condition.
Detectives arrived at the party location to find approximately 60 teenagers, although many attendees had left the area prior to the arrival of deputies. The party crowd had grown quickly due to social media posts promoting the party.
Detectives learned that a fight broke had broken out shortly after Sunny Wallace arrived at the party. Witnesses told detectives that Wallace had a firearm in his pocket. Numerous party goers joined in the fight. Several party attendees posted photos and videos of the fight and shooting on social media websites.
Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Sunny Wallace. He was located by the Marion County Sheriff's Office in Marion County, shortly after midnight on Tuesday, Sept. 1, and fled on foot when deputies attempted to make contact with him. He was quickly apprehended and taken into custody. He was found to be in possession of a firearm that had been reported stolen from Marion County. Wallace faces other unspecified charges in Marion County. He is being held at the Marion County Juvenile Detention Facility in Ocala.
The parent and child responsible for organizing this party are scheduled to appear in court on charges of having an open house party where a serious injury occurred.
