Citrus County Detention Facility, Lecanto, Florida

August 28, 1:37 pm: Anthony Christopher Armento, Jr., 34, of Beverly Hills, FL, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff's Office in regard to a theft that was reported on Dec. 21, 2019. The victim told deputies that his elderly mother, who has dementia, allowed Mr. Armento inside their home to discuss a removation project. He reported that a check was missing from his Cadence Bank account. He later reported that 2 checks were also missing from his Brannen Bank account. The 3 missing checks, totaling $700, had been deposited into Mr. Armento's bank account. The report stated that Mr. Armento admitted to deputies that he had no permission to cash the checks, that he knew it was illegal to cash them, and he could get into trouble for cashing them. Armento was charged with 3 counts of petit theft of $100 or more, but less than $750; and 3 counts of uttering a forged check ($9,000 bond). 


August 28, 3:25 pm: Joshua Lee Collins, 34, of Beverly Hills, FL, who was already incarcerated at the Citrus County Detention Facility, was arrested on a Citrus County warrant for driving while license knowingly suspended or revoked, a second or subsequent offense; and possession of a new or medicinal drug without a prescription ($2,000 bond).


August 28, 2:15 am: Aashad Lamar Felder, 38, of Orlando, FL, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff's Office on an Orange County  FL warrant for violation of probation on an original charge of aggravated stalking, credible threat (no bond).


August 28, 10:18 pm: Jason Van Harrell, 45, of Inverness, FL, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff's Office during a call for service to an E. Eaton Ter., Inverness residence, due to the complaint of an argument. Deputies found a half burnt marijuana cigarette that Mr. Harrell admitted belonged to him, just inches away from the door of a travel camper on the property where Mr. Harris told deputies he lives. When he was taken into custody, Mr. Harrell was found to be in possession of 0.6 gram of methamphetamine. He was charged with possession of a controlled substance, and possession of cannabis less than 20 grams ($3,000 bond). 


August 28, 3:13 pm: Michael Alan Kogut, 51, of Inglis, FL, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff's Office, after a passerby reported that he witnessed a man, later identified as Mr. Kogut, punch a woman twice on her face while they were inside a black sports utility vehicle at N. Suncoast Blvd. (US 19) and W. Riverwood Dr. in Crystal River, FL.
A deputy arrived to find a woman inside the vehicle and Mr. Kogut standing in a ditch beside the vehicle. The victim told the deputy that she was driving Mr. Kogut to the Rural King store when he began calling her names, so she pulled over the vehicle, and he struck her twice on her face. The deputy reported that both the victim's lips had abrasions and were bleeding. Mr. Kogut denied that he'd struck the victim, but the deputy reported that Mr. Kogut had no injuries, but had blood on his hands that he believed was from the victim. Mr. Kogut was charged with domestic battery (no bond).


August 28, 12:44 pm: Loren Wyatt Lea, 33, of Homosassa, FL, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff's Office, charged with hindering, delaing or preventing communication, to a law enforcement officer or judge, information relating to an offense or violation of probation; aggravated battery of a pregnant victim, and felony domestic battery by strangulation (no bond).


August 28, 3:40 am: Shane John McGlone, 46, of Homosassa, FL, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff's Office on a Citrus County warrant for violation of felony probation on an original charge of possession of methamphetamine with intent to sell (no bond). Mr. McGlone was transported by Prisoner Transport of American from Marion County, Indiana, to the Citrus County Detention Facility in Lecanto, FL.


August 28, 3:25 pm: James Evan Mentz, 24, of Hernando, FL, who was already incarcerated at the Citrus County Detention Facility, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff's Office, on a Citrus County warrant for possession of cannabis less than 20 grams, and possession of drug paraphernalia ($2,000 bond).


August 28, 11:37 am: Sean Saleem Schmidt, II, 26, of Inglis, FL, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff's Office, charged with knowingly transmitting information, harmful to a minor, to a minor within Florida ($2,000 bond). Mr. Schmidt is accused of sending a photo of his genitals to a female juvenile, knowing she was a minor due to statement he made via Facebook and Snapchat.

 
August 28, 6:36 pm: Chase Montgomery Vaughn, 23, of Gainesville, FL, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff's Office, charged with battery of a person 65 years of age or older, a third degree felony ($2,000 bond).
