August 25, 9:39 pm: James Francis Callaghan, Jr., 55, of Lecanto, FL, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff's Office on a Citrus County warrant for violation of misdemeanor probation on an original charge of driving under the influence ($1,655 cash-only bond).
August 25, 7:38 pm: Marge Crosby, 78, of Dunnellon, FL, was arrested at her residence by the Citrus County Sheriff's Office, charged with animal cruelty, and aggravated animal cruelty ($1,500 bond).
August 25, 2:58 pm: Joseph Eric Mastran, 39, of Daytona Beach, FL, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff's Office, charged with felony retail theft of $750 or more ($2,000 bond). Mr. Mastran is accused of leaving the Homosassa Walmart with a shoppng cart filled with $759.37 of store merchandise that he did not pay for, which he deserted when he was approached by store employees, then took off running in a southwesterly direction into a wooded area. He was later located by a K9/deputy team, hiding in brush not far from the store's parking lot. He was identified as the suspect by store employees. Upon his arrest, Mr. Mastran was found to be in possession of a new, empty wallet that was also stolen, according to the report.
August 25, 10:43 pm: Richard Allen Mills, 41, of Inverness, FL, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff's Office during a traffic stop, for failing to mainain a single traffic lane, at the Dollar General store, located at 1385 N. Florida Ave. in Hernando, FL. The report stated that Mr. Mills' driver's license was revoked for 5 years on May 24, 2018, and he has 8 previous guilty convictions for driving while his license was suspended or revoked. He was charged with driving while license revoked as an habitual traffic offender ($2,000 bond).
August 25, 11:13 am: Larry Wayne Samons, 69, of Crystal River, FL, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff's Office, charged with lewd or lascivious conduct, and lewd or lascivious molestation of a person between the ages of 12 and 16 ($30,000 bond).
August 25, 9:27 pm: James Lamar Surrency, 27, of Inverness, FL, was arrested at his residence by the Citrus County Sheriff's Office on a Sumter, County, FL warrant for criminal mischief of $200 or less, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, shooting or throwing a deadly missile into a dwelling or conveyance, knowingly discharging a firearm in a public place or roadway, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill ($60,500 bond). As chance would have it, the arrest was conducted by Deputy Robert Bang!
August 25, 10:17 am: Paul Eugene Thompson, 61, of Dunnellon, FL, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff's Office, charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill ($2,000 bond). Mr. Thompson is accused of pointing a pellet rifle at 4 people inside a vehicle that was traveling south on N. Calcutta Ave. in Dunnellon. Mr. Thomspon told deputies that he stood on his porch, holding his pellet rifle, with the muzzle pointed upward, after the four people inside the vehicle parked it in front of his home and shone lights into his windows while shouting profanites. One of the victims told the deputy that they shone the light toward Mr, Thompson's residence from a neighboring yard about 100 yards away. The four victims claimed that Mr. Thompson pointed the rifle at them and held it toward them as they drove away.
August 25, 10:20 pm: William Jackson Wilsey, 31, of Crystal River, FL, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff's Office during a traffic stop on NE 5th Ave. (Hwy. 44) in Crystal River, due to Mr. Wilsey riding a bicycle at night on the wrong side of the road with no red rear light (required by driving regulations). During the traffic stop, the report stated, Mr. Wilsey dropped a flashlight to the ground that was found to contain 6.95 grams of methamphetamine inside the battery compartment. Mr. Wilsey was charged with possession of a controlled substance ($2,000 bond).
