August 23, 2020


August 23, 2:57 am: Veronica Kellie Meadows, 22, of Hernando, FL, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff's Office, charged with failing to register as a felon within 48 hours following the conviction of a felony in Florida (Feb. 13, 2020), Her bond was set at $500.


August 23, 12:40 pm: Jospeh John Niciforo, 57, of Inverness, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff's Office, charged with felony domestic battery by strangulation (no bond).


August 23, 9:20 pm: Shandis Marie Tedder, 38, of Beverly Hills, FL, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff's Office on a Citrus County warrant for violation of misdemeanor probation on an original charge of possessiion of drug paraphernalia (no bond).


August 23, 5:23 pm: Matthew Murl Wanner, 23, of Crystal River, FL, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff's Office following an incident at the Rural King store, located at 1801 NE Hwy. 19 in Crystal River. Mr. Wanner is accused of taking a backpack from the store and placing other store mechandise inside it: 2 game cameras, 3 pocket knives, a hatchet, and numerious SunDisk trail camera cards, with a combined value of $1,147.29. A store manager asked Mr. Wanner to leave the backpack at the store. Mr. Wanner left the store with the backpack, but discarded it approximately 200 yards from the store. Guided by a K9, deputies tracked Mr. Wanner to NW 19th St and NW 13th Ave., about a quarter mile from the store, and took him into custody. He was found to be in possession of approximately 3.0 grams of methamphetamine, a glass smoking pipe and plastic baggies (commonly used for packaging narcotics, the report stated). Wanner was charged with grand theft of $750 or more, but less than $5,000; possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia ($5,000 bond).

August 22, 8:56 pm: Felicitie Marie Gillette, 26, of Hernando, FL, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff's Office , charged with battery ($1,000 bond).


August 22, 2:00 pm: Kimberly Anne Iannucci, 57, of Inverness, FL, was arrested by the Levy County Sheriff's Office during a traffic stop in Crystal River, FL, due to a vehicle (traveling south on U.S. Hwy. 19, just north of W. Godfrey Ln.) failing to stay within its lane of travel. The deputy documented that Ms. Iannucci exhibited signs of being "heavily" under the influence of a substance, that she performed poorly on roadside sobriety testing, and she was taken into custody. At the detention facility, Ms. Iannucci's breath alcohol level was measured at 0.004 (well below the legal limit of 0.08). The deputy reported that Ms. Iannucci stated that she uses xanax, adderall, flexaril and oxycontin, and he believed that she was under the influence of controlled substances, not alcohol. She was charged with driving under the influence ($1,000 bond). She was also issued a traffic citation for failure to maintain a single lane.

August 21, 3:30 pm: Jason Michael Pounders, Sr., 40, of Hernando, FL, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff's Office at 9642 E. Gospel Island Rd. in Inverness, on a Citrus County warrant for third degree murder - discharging a firearm causing death, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a short barrel shotgun. His blanket bond was set at $45,000.


August 20, 2020


August 20, 2:03 am: James Evan Mentz, 24, of Hernando, FL, was arrested by the Citrus County Sheriff's Office, during a traffic stop for unlawful speed, in the 3000 block of W. Louise Ln. in Hernando. During the traffic stop, the arresting deputy reported that he noticed a strong smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle, and the vehicle was searched. During the search, deputies located 1.2 grams of marijuana, and a green container that contained a waxy residue that tested positive for marijuana. Mr. Mentz, the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, was taken into custody. At the detention facility, corrections officers located an additional 1.5 grams of marijuana, tucked into Mr. Mentz's right front waistband. He was charged with possession of marijuana less than 20 grams, possession of drug paraphernalia (the green box), and introduction of contraband into a detention facility ($4,000 bond). Mr. Mentz was issued a written warning for the speeding infraction and additionally charged with violation of his misdemeanor probation (for carrying a concealed firearm), with his bond set at none.
