Tallahassee, Florida - On September 13, 2023, Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) agents, with the assistance of the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), arrested Jason Brown, 48, of Cape Canaveral, Florida, who was charged with criminal mischief. Brown, claims to be a member of “Order of the  Black Sun,” an antisemitic, extremist group.

Brown is accused of hanging swastika flags and other antisemitic banners, on June 10, 2023, along a fence on the Daryl Carter Parkway Bridge in Orlando, Florida, that were hanging directly over Interstate-4, without receiving written permission to do so, which is a violation of a newly enacted state law, House Bill 269, which includes provisions that prohibit the display or projection of images onto a building, structure, or property, without permission.

There are three outstanding arrest warrants for additional demonstrators, who live out of state, who allegedly participated in the action with Brown, also in violation of House Bill 269.

FDLE Commissioner Mark Glass credits House Bill 269, as "Giving us the tools to arrest this hate filled radical. This activity will not be tolerated in the greatest state in the country, Florida.”

“Florida is a law-and-order state. Today’s arrest demonstrates Florida’s commitment to protecting residents from attention seeking extremists,” said FLHSMV Executive Director Dave Kerner.
