Body of man, age 60s, found Aug. 11 near Sims Furniture in Lecanto, FL - the public is asked to assist with tips
Citrus County, Florida - The Citrus County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) is seeking the assistance of the public in gathering information related to a deceased peson found in Lecanto, Florida on Friday night, August 11, 2023, about 8:00 pm.
Deputies, assisted by the agency's Aviation Unit, located a deceased person - a white male in his early sixties - close to the wood line along the eastbound lanes of E. Gulf to Lake Hwy. (State Road 44) near Sims Furniture Galleries, LLC, located at 205 E. Gulf to Lake Hwy. in Lecanto, Florida.
The CCSO is reaching out to the community to help piece together a timeline of events leading to the discovery of the deceased person. It is known that the deceased was bicycling, that he left behind several items, and then began walking. The agency is interested in hearing from any motorist, bicyclist or pedestrian who was in this vicinity - on Friday, August 11, between 8:30 am and 6:00 pm - who may have witnessed a bicyclist or pedestrian walking close to the wood line.
